BECOMING A CLIENT

What To Expect

Calling attorneys can be exhausting, scary and overwhelming. We put your fears to rest by making the entire initial process of becoming a client as easy and as straightforward as possible.

When you first reach out to Davies Wegner, while you won’t speak directly with one of the attorneys, we’ll gather information about your case, so the attorney is prepared for the consultation. We thoughtfully talk through the details, asking questions and taking notes.

Next, we’ll schedule a Zoom consultation. You’ll meet with Talitha Wegner for roughly an hour to discuss your matter and our process. When the meeting is finished, you’ll have a solid plan for next steps — one that leads with the law.

Lastly, a retainer agreement is drafted that mutually protects both you and our firm. A retainer amount is determined based on the scope of work. When the agreement is signed and executed and the retainer is remitted, work can begin on your case. You’ll find Davies Wegner extremely responsive. Since family law matters aren’t on a 9-5 schedule, you will have not only our office number and staff emails, you’ll have our cell phone numbers as well.

When you’re ready to move forward, call us to schedule a consultation, 310.481.0300.

What To Bring With You

Whether a prenuptial agreement or divorce, it may be helpful to share documents. The attorney can better determine the scope of your matter if you have tax returns, records of property or investments made before or during marriage, property inherited before or during marriage, documents that detail the lifestyle of the marriage, or any evidence regarding health, sobriety, or other issues impairing a spouse’s ability to keep children safe in their care.

If you are in the middle of active litigation, it is critical to share any current Court orders that are in place. If your matter is post-Judgment, please share the Judgment currently in the place.
